When you spend your days holding space for other people, it’s easy to forget that you need holding too. That’s why we created the Healers RE-Treat: a weekend for therapists, psychologists, nurses, body workers, and other helping professionals to pause, breathe, and come back to themselves. We just wrapped another one, and we’re still carrying its glow.
Every Healers RE-Treat Has Its Own Energy
Each Healers RE-Treat has a different energy, and that’s part of the magic. No two groups are alike, and we let each weekend become what it needs to be.
This one was really chill. It leaned all the way into self-care. There was no rushing and no pressure to perform, just a group of caring people who give so much in their work, finally letting themselves receive. We gathered around the table with art supplies and journals, the big windows filling the room with light, and settled into an easy rhythm of creating, talking, laughing, and resting.

And of course there was the lake. Lake Texoma gave us lake views and wide sunsets each evening, the kind that make you stop mid-sentence and just look.
What We Did Together
Reading Our Horoscope Charts
We spent time reading horoscope charts together. Whether you take astrology seriously or just for fun, it turned out to be a lovely, lighthearted way to reflect on who we are, what drives us, and where we might be headed. It opened up a lot of curiosity, a lot of laughter, and some surprisingly tender conversations.
Listening to Our Favorite Songs From When We Were 21
This one was pure joy. Everyone shared a favorite song from when they were 21, and we listened together. Music has a way of carrying us straight back to who we were at that age: our hopes, our friendships, the person we were becoming before our careers took shape. Reconnecting with that version of ourselves was playful and moving all at once. (Some of us may have sung along. Loudly.)
Channeling Our Inner Wise Guide
We also took time to channel our inner wise guide, that steady, knowing voice inside each of us. Helping professionals spend so much time guiding others. It felt meaningful to turn inward and listen to the guidance we already carry for ourselves.

Why Self-Care Matters for People in Helping Professions
Therapists, healers, and other helping professionals pour their hearts into helping others heal. Over time, that work can leave us depleted, stuck, or burned out, often without our noticing until we’re running on empty. Self-care isn’t a luxury for people in this line of work. It’s what keeps us whole, present, and able to keep showing up.
The Healers RE-Treat is creative wellness, not therapy. It’s a space where you get to be a guest rather than the caregiver. We work with bottom-up, experiential practices like creative expression, movement, and time in nature, and we make plenty of room for rest and play. Being with a community of kindred healers who “get it” is a big part of what makes the weekend restorative.
What We Left With
We left full of hope and with a renewed spirit for our profession. That’s really the heart of it. The work we do matters, and it’s easier to remember that after a weekend spent being cared for, laughing with people who understand, and reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that drew us to this work in the first place.
To everyone who joined us: thank you for your openness, your laughter, and your music. You made this weekend what it was.
